The Open Pantry

What's in our kitchen — and what isn't.

We have nothing to hide. When you eat at Bell Kitchen, every plate is built from a short list of real ingredients we trust enough to name. We won't quietly use anything we wouldn't proudly put on our own table.

What we use

Sourced honestly · Named with pride

  • Spartan extra-virgin olive oil — From a producer of boutique olive oil.
  • Vegetables from the Athens central market — picked daily before service
  • Aegean fish from the Athens fish market when in season
  • Minced Meat from our Grinder Our restaurant uses a special meat grinder to ensure 100% control over the minced meat recipe in all our dishes.
  • Greek feta PDO — never imitation, never industrial
  • Bio Yogurt from small producers in Livadero and Mytilene.
  • Fermented bread — from a bakery dating back to 1907.
  • Flower of Salt - Rock Salt from the Kythira island
  • Wine from small Greek estates — a boutique winery in the mountain village of Arnados on Tinos
  • Fresh dough & béchamel made from scratch, every morning

What we don't use

Strictly never in our food

  • Industrial seed oils (sunflower, soybean, canola)
  • Flavour enhancers (MSG, artificial bouillon)
  • Palm oil, in any form
  • Frozen ready-made bases — no shortcuts, no boxes
  • Imitation feta or unnamed "white cheese"
  • Pre-mixed béchamel or powdered sauce bases
  • Mass-market tomato concentrate with additives
  • Colourings, preservatives, or artificial sweeteners
  • Anonymous bulk ingredients we can't trace to a person
Our Story

Same kitchen.
Same neighbourhood.
Almost seventy years.

The corner of Petmeza and Falirou has smelled of slow-cooked tomato since 1956 — when this room first opened as a working-class taverna for the families who built this part of Athens.

Today, under the Little NOE team, COOKaki continues the same idea with a lighter, more conscious hand: olive oil instead of butter, seasonal vegetables alongside the classics, and the same hospitality the neighbourhood has counted on for three generations.

We're proud to be the anti-tourist-trap that's somehow ended up minutes from the Acropolis Museum.

  • 1956 A working-class taverna opens on Petmeza 5. The first moussaka tray comes out of the wood-fired oven.
  • 1978 Three generations of Chefs welcome poets, students, and workers of post-war Koukaki.
  • 2009 The Acropolis Museum opens two blocks away. Locals worry the neighbourhood will lose its soul. The kitchen character doesn't change.
  • 2026 The Little NOE team takes over the legendary space — preserving the recipes, lightening the execution, honouring the address.

An Incredible Hidden Gem Highly recommend this wonderful restaurant! Our family of five was tired and hungry after touring Athens, looking for a true culinary experience to finish the day. From the moment we arrived, the owner was truly attentive to every detail.

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. A TRUE CULINARY EXPERIENCE. I wandered by this place on a visit to Athens looking for some traditional Greek food. The Chef explained the whole menu, letting us know where he sourced all of his ingredients (from local markets and traders) and how all of the dishes were cooked and put together. The food was cooked with passion and love. The service was exceptional, it felt like a private dining experience.

We found here by accident whilst visiting the Acropolis we would all say well worth seeking it out and giving the overpriced Tourist Trap places a miss.
