Cookaki: Το μικρό γαστρονομικό μυστικό στη σκιά της Ακρόπολης που αξίζει να ανακαλύψεις αυτό το καλοκαίρι
“Cookaki: the small gastronomic secret in the shadow of the Acropolis worth discovering this summer”
«Μεταξύ Ακρόπολης και Κουκακίου θα φας μαμαδίστικα πιάτα με ελεβέ αισθητική»
“Between the Acropolis and Koukaki you’ll eat home-style dishes with an elevated aesthetic” (Translated from the Greek original.)
In August 2026, Athens Voice came to Petmeza 5 and wrote about the room and the food. The piece follows the history of the address — a kitchen that has fed this neighbourhood since 1956, when it was the wine-taverna Kambana, whose regulars included the poet Yiannis Ritsos — and connects that history to the way we cook now.
It describes the philosophy we work by: honest cooking, seasonality, Greek produce chosen each morning at the farmers’ market, the fish market or Varvakios by our chef, Marios Toutountzoglou. And it stops at the dish we are proudest of — a round courgette stuffed with sour trahana and wild fish, finished with avgolemono.
We don’t reproduce the article here. It belongs to Athens Voice, and it reads better where it was published.
